I use a wide range of medium to create my sliced and layered paintings. These include gouache, acrylics, oils, pen and ink, graphite and oil pastel. Working on a variety of paper types, I cut and layer multiple pieces of paper to form a collage. The process is both fragile, exciting and messy. These paintings can be made up of hundreds of paper fragments. Until it's finished and secured a sneeze can be disastrous and windows are kept tightly shut! Through this technique, a wealth of contrast, depth and pattern is created in my original paintings.
All paintings are professionally framed. I usually choose a slim, grey wooden moulding, which I feel works well with my colour palette. It is simple and unfussy, suiting both modern and traditional settings. See details at the bottom of this page.
