I use a wide range of medium to create my collaged layered paintings. These include gouache, acrylics, oils, pen and ink, graphite and oil pastel. Working on a variety of paper types, I slice, chop and layer multiple pieces of paper to form a collage. The process is both fragile, exciting and messy. These paintings can be made up of hundreds of paper fragments, and until it's finished and secured, a sneeze can be disastrous and windows are kept tightly shut! This technique creates a wealth of contrast, depth and pattern in my original paintings.
My original paintings are professionally framed. I usually choose a slim, soft grey wood moulding, which I feel works well with my colour palette. It is simple and unfussy, suiting both period and modern settings. See details at the bottom of this page.
